Checking if unplugging the desktop from the wall resolves the startup issue after reconnecting
An older ASUS homebuilt is beginning to behave strangely. The issue appears only when I disconnect it from the wall (often to prevent lightning damage) and then leave it away for a few days. After plugging it back in, it stops responding completely. In the past, I’ve fixed it by toggling the power cord, switching the PS button on and off, and reattaching the SSD drive. Could a faulty CMOS be responsible?
It appears the PSU is likely malfunctioning. When powering up, the date and time seem incorrect, suggesting an issue with the battery.
A PSU power supply might reach the end of its life, so consider using a different one. Also, replace the CMOS battery with a fresh one. The 2032 model seems to require that specific battery type. Or monitor the battery status.
