I changed the motherboard recently and now the system is warning me that the Windows key is being used on another device. It suggests trying a different key. What steps can I take to resolve this issue?

The OEM Windows version is tied to the motherboard. I recommend reaching out to Microsoft for assistance with this problem. http://support.microsoft.com/ContactUs

You need to reach out to Microsoft and follow their automated de-activation process. It's straightforward.

I had to speak with an Indian woman for 20 minutes and I promise I uttered around a thousand numbers... that was exhausting. At least my windows are now on!

I also had to do it. It might be specific to Germany, but I entered a 46-digit code on my phone and then the activation code. It’s Microsoft, shouldn’t they have an online option?

I reside in Austria, which might mean Microsoft is overlooking much of Europe. It only took me five minutes to get it going so it wasn’t too long.
