It seems you're unsure about something. You should use the Samsung Magician to update, and you can still run a checkdisk on that drive.

didn't locate anything... but... honestly, the files don't have to be deleted when downloading. More likely it's a hash verification failure and you're re-downloading the whole thing. SSDs generally swap out faulty memory sections when a bad sector is found, but if you're not seeing any errors with the crystal disk mark, that should be fine. Still, I'm unsure how many MP3s I've had to swap out because they became corrupt and unreadable. I'm using two 960 Pro drives in RAID 0 for system storage and run sfw /scannow occasionally to fix corrupted system files.
