Checking if disabling indexing enhances speed? (Windows 10)
Shutting down indexing can boost speed on a Windows 10 PC with an SSD.
Only when Windows is indexing does it matter. It doesn’t constantly index files, so disabling it usually has little effect.
There are around 20 to 30 adjustments you can make in Windows. Each change by itself has little impact, but together they create a noticeable improvement.
Usually not with an SSD. If you use a HDD, there could be a minor distinction.
Consider that when Index is turned off, all your queries—like those in the Start menu—will run significantly slower and won't function properly.
