Checking if 100°C is safe for running Cinebench on an i9-13900K.
While testing cinebench on i9-13900K, six of my eight 8-core processors hit 100°C. I noticed in a Linus video that reaching that temperature can damage the CPU. Does anyone else's i9-13900K experience this issue? I've installed a liquid cooler named "LIAN LI GALAHAD AIO 360 ARGB." Also, Cenabench reached 37,498°C on multi-core tests.
100C indicates the maximum performance the CPU can handle, making it safe to use. You might find it beneficial to lower the voltage slightly, as ASUS boards often apply more than needed during default settings. This adjustment could boost Cinebench scores by around 2000 points and help prevent thermal throttling.
At 100°C the CPU will start throttling. It could be operating at that temperature but it may be reducing its speed a lot to avoid getting hotter. Are you using Cinebench continuously or just a single run? Cinebench tests are short, so the CPU would likely get even warmer during longer sessions. Especially with a liquid cooler, it may take time to stabilize at a higher temperature. If you reach 100°C during a Cinebench test, there’s likely an issue with your cooling setup. Verify common factors like fan operation, AIO pump activity, and proper thermal paste application (no plastic sticker left under the cooler).
It hits 100 ° as soon as I click the start button on cinebench for single run. So, I guess there is some issue with cooling. Fans and AIO pump are running fine, I even forcing all fans to run at max RPM and it still went to 100° straight. I know thermal paste is applied and there was no plastic in between when cooler was installed. I guess the issue is with air flow. I will also try to undervolt the cpu as suggested by RONOTHAN.
It seems there were some cooling problems, which likely affected performance. A non-thermal throttling at 13900K should normally hit around 40k in R23. If cooling was an issue, it probably wouldn't be reaching that level. It might just be using more voltage than needed.
Hello, I'm experiencing the same problem with my 13900k. When I click to run cinnebench, it reaches 100°C. I have a Deepcool 360 AIO.
