I was relocating and sent my PC via FedEx, but here’s what I got. My machine has an RX7900XT and a Gigabyte Aorus Elite AX motherboard. Please check the photos—I think both are completely non-functional or at least salvageable somehow? I didn’t plug anything in; I just took out the GPU after noticing the bent PCIe slot. Can I try using them, or is it too risky?
Absolutely take action right away. Submit every available evidence and photos immediately—there’s no way to defend yourself properly if you don’t act fast.
The Mobo PCI slot might function if you manage to reinsert the metal component... The GPU PCI pins are certainly damaged, possibly fixable by a technician. It’s unlikely you should have sent the PC with the GPU installed, especially a large 7900XT model—unless there’s matching foam or similar (as seen in prebuilt units)
I believe the PC slot is actually in a bad shape. The GPU is definitely faulty. Don’t try to fix anything—just file a claim and keep following up. Please don’t turn it on. If you do this again, make sure to remove any heavy parts from the PC before shipping. Desktops aren’t built to withstand the stress of shipping without proper support.
Noticed the damaged PCie slot is at the bottom, not the GPU port. I think the board could still function even with a faulty slot. I believe the damage is done now. The OP might try to file with FedEx, but it doesn’t matter what happens next—GPU won’t work regardless.
Consider submitting your claim and holding off for a response. However, the PCIe lane configuration may allow you to recover the board by switching to another x16 port. I’m currently using a 3080ti in an x16 slot with 8x Gen 3.0 lanes, showing minimal performance loss. Are you certain about this setup? It’s hard to locate a motherboard from that lineup featuring a CMOS battery between three x16 slots. Could you share the exact model? Regarding the GPU, there’s a chance it could work if the power delivery connections are intact—some units appear undamaged. Also, ensure the slot contacts reach the top for a solid connection. PC components tend to last, so give it a try and be prepared for any surprises.
