I received a brand new Omen 17 laptop equipped with an RTX 2060, an i7-10750H processor, and dual-channel 16 GB RAM. I've been using it for testing since last week, monitoring temperatures and clock speeds during intensive tasks like gaming and rendering. However, the results have not been satisfactory. I tried both undervolting and running without any undervolt on the CPU. When there was no undervolt applied during the Furmark stress test, temperatures rose quickly to 97-98°C and remained stable for about 10-15 seconds before dropping. At that point, power limits exceeded as shown by the HWinfo64 app, and I’m unsure what that means. After a short pause, the temperature fell to 80-85°C with the CPU frequency dropping to 3.7-3.8 GHz. With undervolt applied and frequency capped at 3.9 GHz during the same test, temperatures reached 80°C and then decreased to 70-80°C after about 10-15 seconds. The HWinfo64 app also indicated power limits were exceeded. I’d like to keep the laptop stable at around 3.8 GHz for the first 10-20 seconds without exceeding power limits. Can someone experienced with these issues help me resolve this?

your processor is throttling due to heat, you have no real choice but to adjust the fans. If you're sure about it, could you consider purchasing a thermal Grizzly Kryo and replacing it? once done, turn off the power limit and check if your system runs smoothly.

It might be trying to save energy by slowing down when things get warm, but that’s unusual for a laptop. The temperature reading seems too low compared to what you’d expect.

As we've all noticed in PC Secret Shopper, HP tends to impose strict rules. You really have no other option but to boost the fans or use Kryonot, sorry for that... Unless you manage the limits via the Intel Tuning Program or HP's official tools.

I don’t think repasting makes sense for a brand new laptop. I could try a better cooling pad instead.

I don’t understand how to operate it. The product doesn’t support your CPU because it wasn’t installed.

You're left with two options: check if HP offers its own control software (unlikely) or use a cooling pad for your laptop.
