checking CPU power settings on the motherboard
You should connect the power only through one of the 8-pin CPU power pins. Using just one pin is not recommended. Make sure you have the correct PSU and cables before purchasing.
The 1x8pin CPU power connector supports up to 225W continuously and 336W in short bursts. Running the 7700x with just this connector works perfectly—well beyond what the chip needs. Its standard TDP is 105W, so it’s well under that limit. The additional four pins are reserved for overclocking, offering extra features for the motherboard and a bit of flair.
