It would work well; the "Maxed out 8 core" level should suit a system with 12 cores.

I recommend sticking with your existing motherboard. I can test the CPU on the B450 first to check for thermal throttling in the VRM, and if the airflow is sufficient, it should be fine. Otherwise, it might not work well.

It might function, though it isn't the best choice. Personally, if the OP wanted to retain his board, I’d go with a 3700/3800x. For a 3900x setup, I’d recommend a more suitable motherboard.
