You're considering upgrading from the 5950X to the 5800X3D. It's great you're thinking about power efficiency while keeping your gaming experience smooth. The 5950X runs in Eco Mode at 65W, which helps lower your electricity usage. Switching to the 5800X3D in Eco Mode could further reduce power draw, potentially bringing consumption down to around 80W or less. This way you can enjoy higher performance without a big impact on your bills. Just check the specific power limits for the 5800X3D in Eco Mode to ensure it fits your needs.

It typically consumes less than 50W during gaming and around 40W when idle. The 65W PPT limit remains fully compatible.

You can experiment with the curve optimizer settings. I typically run mine with PBO and a -30 curve, achieving around 109W in cinebench R23 at about 4.4ghz. Someone on Reddit lowered it to 60W—worth a try.

Alternatively, set a PPT cap of 65W in the BIOS if possible, though that's uncommon
