Performance is quite good on those devices. It's closely tied to your home wiring setup. Older wiring usually results in poor connectivity and reduced maximum speeds. Sometimes WiFi works better, other times it doesn't—depends on the game. For years I played games using Wi-Fi and it generally performed adequately.

Usually it's not wise to use a long antenna cable because you might lose more signal than through the air, even behind walls. I'm also unsure whether your broadband arrives at the router via WiFi or if all clients need to connect to the router wirelessly.
