Smug: I have the 2700X...So many cores, so many threads...Take that, render times!
And to Justice507: The others are right, all the Boost settings are applied automatically, and they won't hurt the CPU, but Precision Boost and XFR are only available on the later X470 and B450 chipset motherboards.
Wait....what!? Really? I missed that. So does it boost at all on the B350?

Great, now I won't interfere with the discussion!
It does improve performance, though the XFR and precision Boost aren't fully optimized on my B350 MB. The Intel Burn Test shows an 8-core speed just under 4 GHz while rendering is a bit higher, but at least two cores consistently reach around 4.3 GHz during light use.
You know? I might upgrade to a B450 MB and check the results... I'm getting bored. 😉
If you're mainly gaming or just playing, stick with the 1600X. Even if you often need the extra cores/threads from the 8-core models, the current 1800X prices in the UK are quite affordable.
