Hi everyone, I observed during gaming that my CPU usage was low and wondered if that might be causing the drop in FPS while playing Warzone 2. All the monitoring tools I used showed similar low percentages. Isn’t it strange for a CPU-intensive game to run so poorly? I know Warzone 2 isn’t optimized, but I feel like my performance could have been much better recently. About three months ago I had an R9 390 with this CPU and consistently achieved around 70 FPS, whereas now with a 5700XT I’m averaging about 50 FPS.

your cpu supports 12 threads, which explains the performance. most games require around 4 or 8 threads, but having 12 is rare. this means the cpu is only utilized about 30% because it’s handling a third of those threads. the benefit here is you can stream on a second monitor or run OBS smoothly without affecting game speed, thanks to extra cores. the downside is that not many programs can use all 12 threads simultaneously. regarding the performance gap between the R9 380 and the new card, I don’t understand why it’s lower.

CPU might be the issue. Observe CPU and GPU activity during games. If CPU load is high while GPU usage stays low, your CPU could be limiting performance. Consider overclocking, or think about upgrading for better results.

Check the linked video closely—it indicates the CPU usage is around 7%, which is minimal for a single thread. Even basic browsing in Windows would be unusual. Observe that HWMonitor displays a maximum of 25%, and game loading should exceed that on a 2600. There seems to be an inconsistency somewhere.

Game makers prioritize accessibility over maximum power. Checking power and temperature data shows the CPU is working hard, but it's not showing the full load. It wouldn't slow down at 80°C. The processor needs to handle over 80 frames per second effortlessly, and consistently reach 100 FPS or higher without issues. It should maintain this performance regularly unless the latest patch negatively impacts its speed.

This might happen with older Ryzen chips. People warn against undervolting them because it can cause unusual performance issues, especially on the 5000 series and earlier models.

The only adjustment I need to make is regarding your PC's power settings. For gaming PCs, it's best to choose the high-performance profile, which can sometimes boost performance.

Back then, the hardware managed its own voltage, usually sitting near 1.4 volts. I’d adjust it myself down to about 1.32 without any issues or slowdowns.
