I'm curious about who owns Shadows of Mordor and what setup they use. It's currently available on Steam, which is tempting. My main concern is the CPU performance. I'm using an i3 4150 at around 3.5GHz, and since this isn't a gaming-focused machine, I didn't upgrade to an i5. I have several graphics card options: 7950 R9 280 GTX, 670 GTX, and 760. They're all roughly $140 each, though some are cheaper and others more expensive. I'm leaning toward AMD cards because they offer extra VRAM. I've watched some YouTube comparisons, but they usually use higher settings that this rig won't handle well. I'd prefer a medium setting if possible. If not, the Xbox One controller would be fine. I plan to buy an Xbox One in November, so I'll wait if needed. Also, what input device do you recommend? I've noticed the website seems very unhelpful.
I3 plus R9 280 should work just fine at medium or high settings. 7950 and 280 refer to the same chip and are the best choice. EDIT: The Xbox One would be a much worse option than simply using a 280—its hardware is slower than what you have and what’s available.
You're experiencing performance issues with Shadow of Mordor on your i3-4150 and GTX 960, especially when running at high settings (45-55 FPS).
The Xbox One uses an 8-core Jaguar APU built by AMD. It doesn't feature a separate graphics processor.
He should handle high resolutions at 60 frames per second without any issues.
