I recently acquired a pre-assembled PC from Computer Upgrade King in February. I wanted to build my own system but the high costs of GPUs and RAM were too much for my budget. The pre-built unit seemed reasonable given my financial situation. However, it isn’t performing as expected—my games aren’t running smoothly, especially Fortnite and Overwatch. In Overwatch, frame rates drop to around 40 even at the lowest settings. I tried following a tutorial from Panjno’s video, but it only maintained stable 60 FPS for a couple of days before. On Fortnite, after watching a video, I finally got consistent 60 FPS with low settings and 3D resolution near 77. Previously, textures would fail to load and frames remained unstable at the lowest settings. I’m wondering if my PC is running optimally or if I should focus on upgrading specific components. If not, are there ways to improve its performance? Here’s what I have: Intel Pentium G4400, Acer Aspire TC-780 motherboard, 8GB DDR4 RAM, ZOTAC GeForce GTX 1050 2GB, 300W power supply, 1TB HDD (3.5"), 12-inch SATA to Molex LP4 cable adapter, and several angled SATA cables.

Use MSI Afterburner to track your CPU, memory, and GPU performance during games. You might notice background programs consuming excessive RAM.

Verify your CPU activity using the advice from @Jurrunio; I might have information useful.

The issue seems to stem from the Pentium processor. For a machine like this, I’d suggest using an i3-8300.

I spent a while setting up, so I tried Overwatch with MSI Afterburner for screen display. RAM stayed under 6800MB. I don’t recall the GPU model, but it never spiked that high. My CPU consistently ran at full speed, and I experienced frame drops around 40.

You've got the right idea. The processor isn't powerful enough. 1. It wouldn't fit in the 8100 slot. 2. Even if the motherboard works, the 8th generation CPU won't run smoothly.

I participated in a game of Overwatch using the on-screen interface, and the GPU and RAM appeared to function properly, yet the CPU would hit full capacity throughout the session.
