I just began pushing my i7 6700K to its limits on the Asus Z170 Pro Gaming board, aiming for maximum performance before the parts shortage ends. I encountered an issue with the power supply—trying to hit a steady 4.7GHZ caused a crash loop every time I restarted. I initially set the voltage to 1.345 and adjusted up to 1.37, hoping for stability. But no matter how much I tweak it, it always returns to 1.345, even with tiny changes. When I switched to auto-voltage, I escaped the loop but worried about potential damage. Could anyone confirm if this behavior is normal or suggest a way to raise the voltage slightly for better results? Thanks!

When auto is enabled, it operates at 1.345. You might consider modifying the LLC settings instead. Moving up a tier, such as from level 4 to 5.

It seems the voltage you expect isn’t being maintained after restarts. Have you attempted to reset the BIOS or even flash it to factory settings to get a fresh, updated version? Setting the Vcore to auto works fine—it’s the standard behavior. The only reason BIOSes let manual Vcore adjustments is because auto settings often struggle and can be affected by third-party tools. In your situation, it appears to function better. If your system runs smoothly at 4.7 with auto enabled, you’re in good hands!
