Hey Guys, After some Researche, I still can't tell, so I'm asking you to be sure. I want to Upgrade my CPU. But I think with my Motherboard a good Upgrade isn't that realistic right ? Here are my Specs: Case 1 x NZXT Source 530 CPU 1 x INTEL® Core™ i7-5820K Six-Core 3.30 GHz 15MB RAM 1 x 16GB DDR4/2666MHz Dual Channel Memory(Kingston HyperX Fury ,G.Skill) GPU 1 x MSI GeForce RTX 2070 GAMING Z 8G 8 GB Motherboard 1 x ASRock X99 Extreme 4 Powersup 1 x 700W be quiet! Pure Power L8 700W 80+ Bronze
Upgrading the motherboard is essential for achieving a significant performance boost.
Checking the asrocks support page reveals that the top CPU supported is an i7 6950X. On userbenchmark (https://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/In...3604vs2579), the quad-core speed advantage is 8%, while the octa-core difference is 32%. Since most games run on just four cores, this upgrade likely won't be worthwhile. You'll probably see only a small boost—around 5 to 10 frames per second—in games.
You have options for higher PCI lanes at 5930K or more cores with 5960X/6950X configurations. Performance gains on a single core remain unchanged. Consider the value of selling your current setup if you can afford a newer model that fits your needs. Previously, older X-series motherboards sold well on the used market.
The upgrade isn't necessary at this point. You haven't reached the overclocking stage and don't have a quad-channel configuration. I'm interested in understanding the benefits of enhancing the current setup versus making changes to the existing one.
I understand you're overclocking your CPU and are considering a quad-channel setup for improvement. It's great you're thinking ahead about upcoming games and software needs. Just remember, pushing it to its limit can affect stability—make sure you're ready for the demands.
