I am working on a build, and I am doing a bit of research, and near identical builds, other than obviously motherboard and CPU, appear to be identical in price - we are talking a difference of £30. Intel i9-9900k Intel i9-10940x I was expecting a price difference, given one is 14c 28t max 4.6ghz turbo 3.3ghz standard and the other is 8c 16t max 5ghz turbo 3.6ghz standard Yet, there appears to be no price difference? To me, 0.3 in ghz standard and 0.4ghz turbo doesn't balance out against an additional 6c and 12t (which is larger than some CPUs!) So am I missing something here? Is there like a downside I have failed to consider?
One is a regular CPU, one is workstation (X) version CPU. The X will need a different class of motherboard, it's expensive compared to a regular board. Why the price is the same, because the 9900k is more popular than the 10940x. To build an workstation pc you will need more money. You're missing RYZEEEN!
Thanks. I rechecked the pricing and noticed a £300 gap instead of £30, which is still manageable for the full setup. I’m leaning toward the multicore multithread option despite it being more expensive than the 12c 24t build. I also compared the Ryzen 3900x, which matched the cost of the 10940x but is still cheaper than the full build. Why choose Ryzen then?
