Hey everyone, I just got the Ryzen 5 5600X and checked what MOBO enthusiasts are saying. Most people focus on TUF X570 and B550 boards, noting only a few differences between them. My new 3080 is also TUF OC, which feels great. Do I really need to upgrade my BIOS for things like MSI TOMAHAWK? Since this is my first time with an AMD CPU, I realized the MOBO listings require a BIOS update to support my 5600X. I don’t have any older AMD CPUs and my friends don’t either. Should I look into BIOS update servers at retail stores? It could help both of us and boost sales for more CPUs and boards. Also, are there any new motherboards ready for 5000 CPUs? — Edited November 6, 2020 by laemoy

Selecting a theme is completely acceptable when picking a board! All premium B550 and X570 models can handle a 5600X, so you won’t notice much performance gain from upgrading beyond that, even with overclocking. In similar conditions, I’d likely choose the B550 TUF because it supports BIOS flashback and doesn’t require a 3000-series CPU to refresh its BIOS.

Purchase a board featuring bios flashback capabilities, such as the X570 Tomahawk, or visit a computer store for an update.

BIOS updates can be obtained from USB drives containing the firmware, along with power sources. Various devices, including computers and smartphones, can automatically download the BIOS files for you.

Thanks, I'll now focus more on the boards with bios flashback.
