I was using some hardware testing, then the computer stopped working completely, but the RAM lights stayed lit. After turning it off and unplugging, I noticed the case was warm and the inside components were hot too—around 60°C on the GPU. After letting it cool for a while, it didn’t power on at all, not even from the PSU (which had RGB). This made me wonder if the PSU failed. Should I worry about other parts? The PSU is an Aprevia Premier 1000-watt gold model. How can I check it with a multimeter?

It seems the item is not performing well or has stopped working. When was it purchased? We don't suggest Aprevia... APEVIA CORP. provides a one-year warranty on all products, but refunds aren't offered. The warranty covers defects in materials and workmanship only, excludes issues from normal use or external factors. Defective items will be replaced free of charge except for shipping costs. This warranty doesn't apply to problems caused by other reasons.

Have you experimented with direct power wiring for the PSU? A brief search will reveal which connections to disable in order to force the PSU into operation. It’s typical for enthusiasts like me who prefer cooling methods, but I use a jumper block. https://www.silverstonetek.com/upload/do.../PSU-Paper Clip-EN.pdf It’s useful for running fans or pumps without activating your PC, preventing potential damage from leaks. You’ll need another device linked to a Sata or Molex power cable—such as an old spinning hard drive—to determine if the PSU is turning on and delivering power. This won’t definitively confirm the PSU’s functionality or fault but will indicate whether it powers up at all.

Thanks for the tips, I’ll give it a shot later using the old drive. Better to switch to a fresh brand PSU right away since the current one isn’t working.

December 2023, I would attempt to confirm it, though I think something similar could occur again.

Process the return and order a fresh unit. Dispose of the old one. Purchase a reliable model.

These items are affordable and easily accessible, though their practicality is limited. A decent PSU tester might be worth purchasing. The unit you own isn’t very reputable; I didn’t find much detail about it in the brief time I checked. The warranty they provide is only three years, which feels quite short considering the alternatives available—like the Seasonic Prime series that offers a twelve-year warranty. A one or three-year warranty doesn’t seem very reassuring. It looks likely the PSU has given up, though hopefully it didn’t cause further damage. If you can spare the cost, I’d prefer to replace it with a new one. I’m a loyal Seasonic user and they handled my issue well when needed. When dealing with a replacement, make sure to test or verify stability after installation to ensure nothing else was affected. Overall, I’d be hopeful a simple PSU swap will resolve the problem.

Thanks for the guidance. I connected the PSU directly and didn’t get any response, so I’m planning to go ahead with the warranty and replace it. I’ll order a reputable PSU while I wait for the rest of the parts. Fingers crossed everything works out!

You're using a powerful setup: 5700x display, 280mm AIO, 32GB RAM, 3200MHz Corsair Vengeance, TUF 3080, and an MSI B550M motherboard—perfect for heavy gaming. I chose the 1000W power supply because of your high-end components. You're based in Canada, which is great for reliable service and support.
