The motherboard you own supports the i7-6700K but may not show it in compatible listings. It’s possible the availability is limited or the CPU isn’t widely stocked. Check local stores or online retailers for current stock before purchasing.

Same port, but not compatible. The chipset range is 100-200 for older CPUs and 300 for the 8th and 9th generation. https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/...ssors.html What CPU are you running?

You can check the Passmark website for performance scores and then sort them by CPU type or performance rating to see compatible options. If you need more details, look for sections labeled "CPU compatibility" or "performance rankings."

don't really need one, it's pretty much 9900k at the top, followed by every chip down the list, here is a full list of 9th gen: https://www.anandtech.com/show/14256/int...-announced for just gaming a 9700 would be a huge upgrade, even a 9600 would be a huge upgrade from the 9100f. what is your budget? depending on what you can get a 9th gen used chip for, a 12400f(assuming you have a gpu), and a cheap b660 could be worth considering, it would be a huge step up imo. 12400f+b660 price: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/fR7frD

On an H series board, you won't get an OC, making a K series sky somewhat unnecessary unless it's very affordable.

It still helps a lot. Manual customization seems almost obsolete, so lacking oversight isn’t a big issue.

besides anything, under full stress the 9700 could handle those voltages

You're looking to upgrade your CPU without replacing the whole system. That makes sense. The information about chipset compatibility is helpful—your motherboard supports LGA1151, but it’s important to confirm the compatible CPU models. Finding a list of compatible CPUs can be tricky, so double-check the specifications for your specific motherboard model.
