Check your hard drives or motherboard issues.
Hey everyone, about six months ago my computer would crash after power-on and only worked after several restarts. I looked into the error logs and saw it was pointing to a hardware issue. Because I was too busy, I didn’t fix it. Recently, when I booted into BIOS, it still couldn’t detect the drive (Intel 660P NVMe). I assumed the drive was faulty. I swapped it with a Kingston NVMe and everything functioned properly until recently. About two months ago, I started having the same problem again, and last night it went back to BIOS but now it can’t read the drive at all. It seems the drive is likely several years old—possibly 3-4 years. Could it be that I’m having bad luck with drives? My M.2 slot might be damaged. My motherboard is a Gigabyte B450M DS3H v2, which only has one M.2 port, and I don’t have another PC to test the Kingston NVMe. What should I do next? I’m considering replacing my motherboard for future upgrades, but what if I just keep running into drive issues? Thanks in advance for your help.
It seems possible to boot the PC using the PCI adapter. You might need to adjust the BIOS settings to enable it properly, rather than relying on a plug-and-play setup.
Sorry for the delayed reply. Life things happened. The light wasn’t blinking—just static in blue. My goal is to upgrade to a new drive and a new motherboard so I can experience Gen 4 speeds, which are now almost free. I’m confident everything will work once I get it done. I just don’t have time right now due to all the changes in my life. Thanks for taking the time and effort to reply. Have a wonderful holiday!
