I was in Doom and unexpectedly saw lines and squares appear, the screen became jumbled, and the computer froze. After restarting, there was no video output. My ASUS GTX 1070 Turbo is failing this year, and the second one dies. When I added two GPUs, it worked with the first one, but the 1070 still shows a small error icon. Deleting drivers via Device Manager removed the issue, though the 1070 still doesn’t output video. It installed GeForce Experience on its own. Should I take it to a local shop for inspection?
I've made changes to my post and might need to review it again. It seems like the GPU is dead, but I'm unsure what's causing it. I've heard about "BIOS-crippled" boards where device support is limited or removed. Since you didn't mention your motherboard, this is typical for older models like the A320 AMD. You mentioned a startup video issue and suspect the HDMI cable might be faulty or misplaced. Could reseating the GPU or checking the cable be the problem? The GPU problems you want to avoid include no video output, which usually means the display is failing. More likely, the interposer has broken and is permanently fused to the chip. Repairing it would be too expensive compared to selling the card for parts online.
Yeah i tried to reseat it multiple times, in all 3 pci slots, motherboard is Prime x470 Pro, no display out from either hdmi or display port. Last time i took the gpu to the shop it was a dead chip, and that 1070ti had same symptoms as this one. Guess its just my luck.
