I’ve looked into the DH61HO board and confirmed it can handle the i3-3220. It’s worth noting whether a BIOS update is needed to ensure compatibility.

BIOS 7 appears sufficient. For certainty, verify the BIOS version on your motherboard using CPU-Z.

Think about switching to a second-generation processor such as an i5-2400 to skip the need for a BIOS update. Unless you’re receiving the i3 version for free, this might not be worth it.

I’m purchasing an i3 at a low cost, but I also bought an i5-2400 which turned out not to work with my motherboard because it can’t handle any chip with a TDP over 65W when I tried it.

The BIOS details are listed as "hoh6110h.86a.0010.2012.0424.1632," while CPU-Z shows the MB BIOS version more accurately.

I’ve looked into it and it seems Intel no longer releases BIOS updates. The most recent version is 0815, and there’s a download link available on SoftPedia. You mentioned your BIOS might be 0424, but the page says you need version 7 for both your Pentium G620 and i3-3220. This suggests your motherboard may not be current enough unless you update it. Updating can be tricky since you haven’t done it before.

Testing the CPU first makes sense before updating the BIOS.
