Did you acquire it secondhand or brand new?

You're experiencing issues with booting despite everything being set to default. Consider adjusting the BIOS settings instead of resetting CMOS. If that fails, try manually configuring RAM and CPU parameters. For further diagnosis, use Memtest86 on a different PC with a USB drive to check for RAM faults. If none of these steps resolve it, inspect the RAM physically and verify the serial number matches the intended unit.

I adjusted the settings myself because I needed access to the BIOS. The issue started once the operating system loaded. It seems like trying to change the memory frequency might have caused a corruption.

It's not the storage device. It's the CPU's memory manager. My 8700X reaches about 4300mhz when using normal settings and voltage, and temperatures stay manageable. The performance really depends on how the controller handles data, along with cache adjustments. Some processors struggle with fast memory unless you invest time in tuning.

It works well now, but your system keeps freezing despite the RAM being configured to standard settings and the processor speed at 2667 MHz.

After configuring the defaults, the system stopped responding.

It’s highly improbable, almost impossible, yet it’s wise not to assume anything is perfect. Manufacturers often have safeguards to prevent actual damage.

Windows blue screens often mean corruption has occurred. Try restoring the OS or begin with a new installation on another drive.
