Running on Windows 7, I'm feeling quite anxious about the privacy aspects of Windows 10. It seems like only a small fraction—maybe just 5%—has been addressed so far. If someone with more expertise joins the conversation, it would be wise to have their input as we explore this topic further.
I also viewed the Barnacules Nerdgasm clip to confirm understanding.
Unfortunately, I had a confusing experience with activation. I intended to use EFS features from Windows 10 Pro, but when prompted to change the product key, I used my retail Windows 7 Professional key. It worked smoothly. The following day, I received a warning and a watermark. It turned out there was an existing system using the same key (my grandfather’s) still active, which prevented the upgrade. I thought it would work on up to four devices, but since the original key allowed it without issues, I wasn’t sure what to do. I’m not expecting Microsoft to fix this issue alone. This is just my personal 100-dollar dual-purpose PC, so it’s not a major problem, though the watermark bothers me during video playback. I’m considering whether to undo the change (hoping it doesn’t require reinstalling everything) or explore adding a Linux distribution instead, or even reaching out to Microsoft to clarify what happened.
