If the BIOS contains a damaged file, it may harm your motherboard and other components; a malfunction could void any warranty coverage.

No, I haven't encountered anything similar before and most BIOS updates mainly focus on stability rather than performance gains. Updating can actually improve reliability. It might be wise to check FPS numbers first, then consider updating the BIOS, and if needed, revert. Always have a backup option.

Still waiting to buy any chip, just deciding and not having the latest comparisons. Bios and drivers really impact performance and daily life—for example, my first-gen Navi original drivers compared to the current ones, and S.A.M’s experience feels completely different.

Sure. I don't understand the issue if you don't even have the CPU. Are you asking if the AFTER is a big impact cuz the BEFORE isn't worth it? Drivers impact performance, BIOS impacts stability.

It would simply simplify the decision

The 5800x3d is likely the top AM4 processor, making the choice straightforward based on your current setup. Good luck!

msi includes "kombo breaker" meant to boost speed. Gn has an honest video explaining it—I just lowered my CPU voltage and saw a small gain. The improvement won’t be huge, but it’s worth trying. Many users also use negative voltage curves to manage temperatures, which can help performance by preventing overheating.

In reality, these updates often slightly reduce performance for better stability and lifespan, meaning lower voltages and less aggressive boost responses. My original BIOS definitely pushed higher voltage levels across all cores... newer versions have already adjusted that significantly, and the latest ones even more so. Some manufacturers claim improvements tailored for 3D graphics, like curve optimizers or combo breakers—though those names can be confusing! Personally, I’m satisfied with what I need. I chose this BIOS specifically without a curve optimizer, and using PBO2 gives me around 500 extra points in the benchmark, roughly 1000 more than other reviews suggest. Temperatures are excellent, that’s all I care about.
