Considering a transition to higher resolution and refresh rate after enjoying 1080p/60hz, what hardware specifications should I prioritize for my laptop? For instance, with a Legion 5 setup and a NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 4GB GPU, are there any guidelines or tables available for recommended resolutions? Please note your focus is on 1440p during regular tasks, not gaming, and you're mainly interested in screen real estate while using applications like Excel. Note 2: I'm less worried about the laptop's panel limits and more about the display quality when connected.

When the laptop includes a 1440p display, it can support that resolution. If the refresh rate is higher, it would have been considered. Integrated or separate GPUs have been able to achieve this resolution for a long time now.

Checking the external display output ports on the laptop is recommended. For models with a Thunderbolt port, verify compatible accessories to ensure 1440p monitors can connect via the dock or hub.

You're looking into various laptops to find one that fits your needs. You're aiming for a device with good visual quality and performance suitable for games, while staying within a budget around $1,500 CAD. You prefer something with clear text and more screen space. Currently using a Zenbook with limited GPU power, and you're thinking about passing it to your partner. You're also weighing a tower option or building one yourself, unsure if high performance is necessary. Portability is important, as most of your time is spent at your desk.

Could your ASUS Zenbook with the MX350 support a 1440p display for non-gaming work? Also, what about the 120hz refresh rate?
