I chose to reload my save file after not playing for about a year, but it became extremely slow, taking several minutes to reach the main menu. I’m running a Gigabyte Aero 17 HDR YD with an RTX 3080 and an Intel 11th gen 11980HK. The game’s launcher indicated my Intel drivers were outdated, so I followed the provided link to install the latest Intel detection software and downloaded three drivers, including one for the CPU. I also updated my NVIDIA drivers to the newest version, reduced the game resolution to 1080p, disabled low-level ray tracing, set crowd density to low, adjusted Windows power settings, enabled the NVIDIA control panel to prioritize the GPU, especially for Cyberpunk. The game still lags on the "Steam Deck" preset, with only 15-22 FPS. My CPU is at 100% while the GPU reaches its maximum of 36%, but when I opened MSI Afterburner it shows the opposite—GPU 2 is at 100% and labeled as RTX 3080. I’ve played the game using the saved settings, so I’m unsure what caused the issue. I’m struggling and just want to enjoy the game. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I frequently encounter feedback about gaming laptops struggling with performance.
Typically, this happens when using them while connected.
A common reason is thermal throttling.
Laptop coolers need to be compact and lightweight.
They are also generally less powerful.
If you check tools like HWMonitor or HWinfo, you’ll see the current, minimum, and maximum CPU temperatures. You can view each core individually.
For Intel processors, a maximum of 100°C in red indicates throttling is occurring.
For Ryzen models, the threshold is usually around 85°C to 90°C.
The CPU will reduce its clock speed and power consumption to safeguard itself until conditions improve.
With a lower multiplier, your CPU might operate at full capacity.
What steps can be taken?
Ensure your cooler’s airflow is unobstructed and the fan is running.
Use Windows balanced power profile instead of performance mode.
Set a minimum CPU performance level around 20%.
Although unusual, adjusting the advanced settings in Windows balanced power to a maximum of 90% may help.
You might not immediately notice the impact on performance.

My issue is that I've owned this laptop for four years and have never experienced these problems before when it was powered on. The GPU doesn't seem to be working efficiently, while the CPU appears to manage everything. I just replaced the CPU fan, but the thermal readings only reach 60° during gaming.

When unsure about the reported usage of the Nvidia GPU, it's best to run `nvidia-smi` from the terminal for accurate metrics. Also, it might be useful to check the mentioned link about recent RTX 50-centric issues. If you've updated to the newest drivers, consider reverting to the previous stable version or using a 2024 release as suggested in that article.

The cmd prompt is useful, I need to add it to my list. Is there a comparable command for checking the CPU or specifically the integrated graphics? As per the rollback, I've installed driver 566.36 from December 5th with no success, I'll try Nvidia's older drivers for my GPU one by one when I have some time. I've also submitted a detailed report to CD Project Red with dxdiag reports and game savefiles, hoping it might help.

in linux you use `nvtop` to check this out

the newest releases should display most common GPUs, including built-in ones. I believe all three of mine are visible in this; RTX 2000 Ada, Intel Arc A310, and the integrated iGPU on the Ryzen 9900X
