I'm seeking advice since I've come across many discussions about Windows updates removing files. I'm trying to upgrade from version 1803, which was installed in May of last year, but I don't want to lose any data. Appreciate your help ahead of time.

Disregard 1903. It severely damaged the OS on my Ryzen 5 1600, and I'm still working through the issue. Avoid updates at all costs.

The latest update in 1903 was the most seamless I've ever experienced—no issues arose after it. Still, I want to note that all prior Windows 10 updates led to significant problems on my system. It’s a strong recommendation to back up your entire operating system before applying any update.

Only the OS drive is affected, leaving other storage devices secure.

Updated a Core 2 Duo with 1903 smoothly. Found a "updating windows" screen that lingered for hours—believed it was stuck, but it finally worked. My Ryzen took nearly an hour to finish, so I’m expecting a bit more trouble.

It’s likely the issue stems from you choosing to mess with Windows by installing outdated or questionable tools that claim to fix things like the registry or free space. If things go wrong, a fresh installation is the safest option. 100% reliable.

i've never faced any problems with updates, aside from them showing up at the worst times. i'm running 1903 on both my pc and laptop, everything seems fine right now.
