I assembled my latest build and downloaded the Windows 8.1 Enterprise trial to test version 8.1 (previously used 7). Since 8.1 functions well for me, I obtained a Professional key and switched from the trial to the legitimate product. Regarding updating the product key, it can be done directly in Windows without needing to restart.

They function on separate platforms, you can't simplify them easily and a full reinstall is necessary.

You might be able to utilize the Windows Anytime Upgrade option, but if not, you'll need to perform a complete reinstall. Make sure the key is accessible.

I thought this was the solution, just in case. I wasn't sure if there was another way. I've checked the control panel and updated the product key, but it doesn't work.

With an Enterprise Product key, you can simply update it through the control panel.
