Hi,
I have Corsair's RM750x power supply on my server. As the storage needs increase, I was looking for an extra SATA cable for the power supply. In our country, these original accessories are either unavailable or cost a lot (shipping + import duty). But luckily, I found the type 3 cable at a local store for a great price. Both cost 7 USD. So without a second thought, I bought it. Because according to these websites type 3 and type 4 SATA cables are the same.

But when I came home and compared the two, I saw that they were all the same except for one pin in the middle. Here is the pic.

I tested it on an old hard drive. There was no issue. My question is, my server is running 24/7, can I use this cable?
Thanks in advance.

I purchased the RM750x at some point. There was a situation where I received a bag of Seasonic PSU cables intended for my S12II Evo 520W unit without any charge, which I had requested for a custom sleeve modification on my own rig. Fortunately, I managed to examine the pinout diagram and discovered that one pin was incorrectly placed in the factory port. I recommend tracing the wire expected to carry +5v and checking if it connects to both areas on the SATA connector. If it does, you should desolder the incorrect pin and realign it with the correct position.

If this were your case, I would advise reaching out to your seller to explain the issue and ask about warranty coverage in the event the components or PSU are damaged due to a faulty cable pinout.

I can follow the wire using a multimeter. Appreciate the idea. I'll keep you updated.

That is clearly a different pin out I would look for a type 4 cable. Checking the voltage could work the cables pins in different spots could still have the same reading.
On their site it does say all the pinouts are the same between type 3 & 4 but the 24 pin cable.

I reached out to the seller who said I should get a refund if I return it within 7 days after purchase. However, he can't replace it because it doesn't match the type 4. I also looked up the 5v wire as you suggested and checked the voltage on both the PSU side and the SATA connector side. The middle pin is for the 5v and is flipped. Here are some pictures of what I found:

I verified the voltages on the SATA port for both Type 3 and Type 4. They are consistent. So, it seems safe to proceed?
