I plan to buy RAM and have two choices: Thermaltake ToughRAM with a reported latency range of 19-23-23-42, and G.Skill Ripjaws with a latency of 18-22-22. Which one offers better performance? Why does G.Skill list three numbers instead of four like Thermaltake, and what does the extra "42" in Thermaltake's latency mean? Which option is superior for latency?

Both thermal take kits display a tracking value. Their pricing isn't specified, but each kit has a consistent frequency.

both options are similar in price. Thermaltake might need a bit more because of RGB, and both run at 4000MHz. You can find details here:
- Thermaltake - 16GB DDR4 4000MHz (link)
- Thermaltake Memory Tough RAM 16GB RGB 4000MHz (link)

Opt for lower latency and consider GSKill.

They’re probably both revs; they’ll act alike in reality. But since Ripjaws is cheaper and more convenient, I’d choose that option.

Thanks for the update. I was puzzled by the extra digit on Thermaltake, so I’m considering GSKill. Lower latency seems more crucial than RGB to me.

I understand, I’ll create a new thread about it.

What processor are you using? If it's a Ryzen with DDR4 4000, it might cause issues

Consider the trade-off between speed and stability. Go with 3200 MHz if you prioritize lower latency, or choose 4000 MHz if you can tolerate a bit more delay for better performance.
