Hey there. I have a question about compatibility—I need to assemble an emergency PC after the current one failed. I’m trying to figure out what I can salvage from my existing setup. Here are the specs I have now:
- MB: B450I Aorus Pro Wifi AMD AM4 mini-ITX
- Processor: Ryzen 5 2600X 3.6GHz 6 Core AM4
- RAM: Corsair Dominator DOMINATOR® PLATINUM 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4 DRAM 3000MHz C15
- GPU: GTX 1070
- PSU: SuperNOVA 850 G+ 80 Plus Gold 850W ATX Fully Modular
I only have my RAM and GPU left. My main concern is whether the RAM will work with other components. Thanks!

The RAM should be fine, but you can look on corsairs webpage for this product and look at compatibility. It really depends on when you bought it, because if it was before at least ryzen first gen, (maybe, maybe not because you have a 1070, at least I think) then the RAM may not be totally great with the CPU, but still work, but if released after (and has an ryzen processor on the compat. list) , it should be 100% good with ryzen. If it could get past ryzen first-gen, it could get past literally anything.

Sure, I understand. I also have all the storage units available. I don’t really need an SSD, but I want to make sure my RAM works with the setup. Since I’m using an i7 processor from my previous system, that should be fine.
Dominator Platinums from 2016 work well with Ryzen processors. You don’t have to purchase additional storage; you can invest that money into an R5 3600. Alternatively, you could sell the 1070 and purchase a new GPU.
