Check RAM compatibility for your system.
I recently purchased a new DDR4 Corsair Vengeance Pro RAM kit to upgrade my prebuilt PC. It matches the specifications of the original units, but I’ve been experiencing random stutters and memory blue screens. I reached out to Corsair, who advised that mixing prebuilt PC RAM with off-the-shelf RAM isn’t recommended. They suggested buying a new kit and replacing the existing one, even though they sent me a replacement stick because the LEDs failed. I’m curious if anyone has confirmed their advice before making more purchases or if they seem to be pushing further upgrades.
It seems unusual, but in practice they should work together without issues. The only possible problem would be reduced performance. Test the system using the new hardware alone to observe its behavior.
I’ll try that now, but it didn’t make sense—it looks like they’re identical in design and specs. I thought it would work straightforward, just like I see many YouTube tutorials showing people assemble PCs with RAM from various boxes of the same brand, only requiring everything to fit together in the same package for compatibility.
