It’s not advisable to alter the MBR during a rebuild unless necessary. Doing so can cause system issues. Let me know if you need further clarification!

Absolutely, just avoid handling it unless you're certain. --- A mistake in the rebuild or missing features can lead to a system that won't start.

I wonder if the problem might stem from a damaged MBR. The BSODs and restarts could also point to a virus or other malware. It’s worth checking the system files and ensuring everything is intact.

Initiate a full malwarebytes scan. Wipe all detected files. Utilize the built-in partition utility to clear unwanted sections or employ a different third-party solution. Observe the results.

Using aOMEI PA Standard to rebuild the MBR might be safe if the process goes well, but it doesn’t necessarily ruin the system.

No but its best not to mess around with it unless something happens. If its not needed and the PC is working fine leave it alone

I would probably just perform a fresh installation in this situation.

She lacks the Win7 installation disc and doesn’t wish to lose everything. That’s why I’m searching for a solution to the random crashes and BSODs. If anyone has helpful information unrelated to reinstalling, please share it. I’ve already performed a full scan and discovered two rootkits plus a fake physical sector. As mentioned, if you have anything useful, let me know. Thanks!

For a complete reset, it's wise to save her files first. You can find all the genuine Windows 7 ISO images here: http://www.w7forums.com/threads/official...ads.12325/

Thanks for the suggestions. I didn’t explicitly request a clean install—it was just mentioned as a possibility. I’m looking for a useful fix that doesn’t involve reinstalling Windows.
