I own a Ryzen configuration you can explore on PC parts picker if interested https://pcpartpicker.com/b/Hnq48d. The specs are 1700x with a solid OC of 3.9 Fractal Design S24 Gigabyte GA-AX370 Gaming K7 16Gb G-Skill DDR4-3600 970 EVO NVMe 500GB plus 2TB SSD. I recently swapped my RX580 to a 2070 Super and have been considering replacing the 1700x with the 3600 for a performance gain thanks to the 7nm Zen 2 architecture. Would you all think this upgrade would be worthwhile? I’ll be losing two cores, but based on what I’ve read, the 3600 outperforms the 1700x in both single and multi-threaded tasks. Observing Gamers Nexus’s review of the 1700x showed a 30%+ speed increase for some games.
Assess the present performance carefully. If it meets your expectations, hold off unless you truly require an upgrade. If you must, proceed when necessary. I’d choose to wait myself.
