Is it possible to use 2400MHz and 3200MHz RAM together at the same time? You currently have a Corsair Vengeance LPX with 8GB DDR4 2400MHz. I believe this model is hard to find in your country, and you're considering adding another 16GB of RAM. You're thinking about upgrading to 32GB total, possibly by pairing two sets of 8x2GB 3200MHz modules with the existing 2400MHz ones for a few months before selling the older RAM and buying more 3200MHz units later. Thanks!
It's impossible to ensure compatibility between mismatched RAM modules. If they function for you, they should all operate at the same speed.
It should function smoothly at 2400MT/s, though this isn't always assured. I mean without you adjusting the BIOS settings—manual tuning can usually get it to boot, but it might be quite challenging. It's essentially a gamble because each motherboard reacts differently and depends on your CPU memory controller.
You should consider purchasing 2400 units to align with the previous setup. This option seems suitable for a 2-3 year period. You're currently working on motion graphics, so it matches your current needs.
It should probably work. As mentioned, there's never any guarantee that mismatched sticks will cooperate, but in practice it seems to be pretty much a non-issue nowadays. What will probably happen is that both kits will run at the slowest common speed, aka 2400MHz. That being said, 3200Mhz isn't exactly a huge stretch for decent 2400Mhz kits, especially with a bit more juice, so you might get 3200Mhz (or even an intermediary speed, like 2666 or 2933) if you're lucky and willing to put in the work to check for stability.
J2Cens created a video about it, but it didn't show much. He actually improved his results.
The components you purchase may vary between kits, potentially using different memory ICs. Could you provide the brand and model of your CPU and motherboard?
