Hi there. Good day to you too. I just wanted to ask for some help and get a bit more clarity. I saw online somewhere that the B550 can run a Ryzen 5 2600, but others say it doesn’t support it. I also found a screenshot showing what looks like a B550 with a 2600 chip. Regarding compatibility, if it isn’t working as expected, I’d appreciate recommendations for good MSI or Asus X570 models that include 3-pin ARGB support. I’m not super familiar with the latest motherboard updates. My current setup is an R5 2600 with 16GB RAM and a B450M processor, maxing out at 550MHz. The main reason for upgrading is to avoid using those conversion tools for my ARGB peripherals. Also, I’m thinking about moving my GPU to something like the 3080 or 3070 since rendering tasks are important to me. Thanks!
The information comes from AMD's official site regarding chipset compatibility. The B550 is not supported by Zen+; recommended alternatives include ASUS TUF Plus, Prime-P, and MSI Tomahawk.
At least originally, b550 doesn't work well with zen +. Should we consider a board budget? Why are MSI or ASUS preferred? Yet the b450 mortar max remains quite solid, and you can easily swap it for an RGB controller instead of buying a new one. Keep an eye on ampere's launch and test it with 3.0—otherwise it should handle a 3080 fine. The board is still okay; just opt for an RGN controller rather than replacing everything.
Purchase a controller that matches your RGB setup (there are countless options), and you won’t need a new motherboard. Any PCIe-compatible device will suffice.

It just bothers me that I didnt made enough researches resulting to my periphs not syncing with the board and it kinda bothers that I paid for it. Though its my fault. Im also thinking to just get a b450 board with a 3 pin header.

the intel cpu isn't compatible with the amd motherboard and the ram type matters—drd3 works with some ryan zones but not others. for the ryan boards, switching to ddr4 is recommended since it supports the newer memory standard.
