It varies by router. As long as you can perform a CRC check on the uploaded file, everything is fine. But if the device is hard to reach and something fails, it might be tougher to get back online.

TCP will manage it. A power failure poses greater risks.

Back then, uploading via TFTP caused problems, but today FTP or TCP-based protocols eliminate that risk.
