Some suitable motherboards for the Intel Core i7-6900K include those built for the Z590 or Z790 socket. Look for models from brands like ASUS, MSI, Gigabyte, and Aorus that support this processor.

It's unclear if brand new motherboards from that generation are available. You're likely restricted to used ones on sites like eBay. It's tough to suggest anything reliable because the options depend on how much you're willing to spend. For brands, Asus seems like a solid choice, while MSI or Gigabyte should work too. Just remember that any board you purchase will have long since expired its manufacturer's warranty.

Skip the outdated 6900k model and opt for a Ryzen 5500 or 5600 paired with a refurbished B3/450. It’ll outperform it in both single and multi-threaded scenarios, though it’s still quite costly for quality boards. You’ll mostly find better deals on Chinese boards priced between 60 to 100$, and even then, reselling the old 6900k could give you a better return than buying a new one with a used B3/450.

Back then I had an i7-6800k, which wasn’t the 6900k model but still quite different, and when I switched to the Ryzen 7 3700X right after it launched, I noticed a big boost in speed.
