Hello, I own a Pentium G3220 that was found inside my uncle's old computer after it stopped working. I think the issue lies with the motherboard, but then I noticed something else: near the heat spreader there are a few pads, and one of them has a black residue on it—seems like a burn mark that won't come off with alcohol. I've ordered a H81 motherboard, which should arrive in a few days. Since this order isn't returnable, could you help me? Also, the scratches on the IHS are noticeable because my uncle frequently moved his heatsink.

The components at the base are important; the ones at the top are likely just test units, probably not functional.

It depends on the specific issue you're experiencing. If you provide more details, I can help determine if your CPU is functioning properly.

There’s no clear reason this wouldn’t work—CPUs often last a long time, even with mainboards, and they’re really handy.

It's interesting how you keep trying to bring back this old setup. Even though the CPU might be faulty, you can usually find it for around seven euros on eBay.

My MacBook 2015's motherboard failed, and the only machine I own has a Celeron 420 with 1 GB DDR2 RAM, integrated GMA 945 graphics, an 80 GB HDD. If I buy something from eBay, it could take a month or more to arrive, and no local seller is available.

Really, those new MacBook replacement parts are priced like the whole device! But don’t stress too much—your CPU looks good enough. Just wish you could find a solid system eventually.

I was correct. The motherboard arrived today, and I started using the CPU right away to check its performance. It worked perfectly! I'm now setting up my preferred operating system, Debian 11.
