Oh, alright. I would've probably gone for a better power supply for a 2060 Super but the BR should work. Yeah I mean there was a fair bit of confusion when X570 launched about this, since the vast majority of X570 boards have at least a secondary 4-pin, if not 8-pin, but really it's not needed. Even with a 3950X, by the time you get it to 225-250W it will already be uncoolable on ambient cooling, and a single 8-pin can do over 350W easily. You only really "need" more than a single 8-pin on the consumer side if you're hammering a 10900K running at 5.3GHz all-core with Prime95 all day. -snip-
The Ryzen 3600 uses between 80 and 100 watts. The standard 8-pin EPS connector can handle about 336 watts (four pairs of wires, each carrying 7 amps). In reality, the contacts and casing are rated for at least 9 amps, meaning the actual power draw can be much higher. A single 8-pin connector easily supports your processor’s needs. The 4-pin version is ideal for overclocking, such as with a Ryzen 9 3950, which may need up to 160 watts without overclocking or more with certain settings. For extreme cases like liquid nitrogen or very low temperatures, the power can rise to 300 watts or more. When nearing these limits, adding a 4-pin cable can boost capacity by around 200 watts. The 8-pin connector remains safe and sufficient even for older power supplies or lower-power processors.
