The short version is that an 8-pin setup delivers strong power and supports heavy overclocking, while the extra 4-pin is reserved for extreme cases not feasible otherwise. This boost helps performance significantly.
The device requires a 24-pin, 8-pin, and 4-pin power connector. It seems unlikely the maker would include them if they weren’t essential. I think the system might not start unless all power connections are secure.
