You're planning to upgrade from an Intel i3 2100 to an Intel i5 3470. Your Asus P8H61-M LX3 PLUS R2.0 board should support the i5, but it's best to confirm BIOS compatibility. For a similar performance, consider the Intel Core i5-13400 or i5-13400F as good alternatives.

https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/P8H...pDesk_CPU/ Surprisingly, there is not i5-3470, only i5-3470T on that list, but that may be just a oversight. This motherboard is compatible with 2nd and 3rd gen processors, so i5-3470 should run. I even saw advertisement with that combo (motherboard + cpu). So - yes, it will run. Just check if your BIOS is the latest one.

Review the options and ensure BIOS version 0401 is included. Access the download link for model P8H61M_LX3_PLUS_R20 at the provided URL on your motherboard's site.

The i5 3470 isn't listed among the confirmed working components in the QVL. However, the T series versions are verified as functional since BIOS 0401 and later. It seems the standard i5 3470 should also work if you have an updated BIOS. You might also want to check the following temperatures: 2500K, 3570K, 2600K, 3770K or any non-K variant of these models.

Thank you for your feedback. I've confirmed the BIOS version of your motherboard is 0609. It should be compatible with an i5 3470, but you may need to update the BIOS if it's not the latest. For the installer, you'll need a BIOS utility program—check your computer manufacturer’s website for the correct download. If you're unsure, let me know and I can guide you further.
