Check if your motherboard and Mac address have been modified.
Check if your motherboard and Mac address have been modified.
Hey there,
They told me the motherboard needs to be replaced and I applied for it. I’m using engineering programs that are linked to my Mac address. Should I renew those licenses? Or does a change in the Ethernet card affect things? And how can I confirm the motherboard was actually replaced? Thanks.
If the motherboard is swapped, it will possess a different MAC address compared to your previous one.
If you retain an Ethernet connection through any adapter (USB dongle or PCI card), your MAC address will remain unchanged.
On the motherboard, there is an Ethernet card, and I'm using it to connect to the internet through that card. I believe the Ethernet card hasn't been modified, so the MAC address shouldn't change.
Does the "ethernet card" appear on the motherboard? If yes, it will have a distinct MAC address. If not, the specific "card" connected to the motherboard is different.
It's located on the motherboard. However, when I look for the motherboard, it indicates that the Ethernet isn't included. Similar to RAMs, the motherboard is being replaced yet they continue using the old RAM from the previous model. It's an Ideapad Gaming 3 15IMH05
It's uncommon nowadays to find a motherboard lacking an integrated Ethernet port.
This particular laptop?

If it does:
"Internet Connectivity Ethernet"
"Ethernet Card 10/100/1000"
That feature is already included on the motherboard.
A new motherboard will have a different MAC address.
A model under this one but everything same nearly. Thanks for fast reply
