It's definitely something you can look up online. Many people have tried running an FX-9590 on a Sabertooth 990FX R2 and even overclocked it. Just be careful with the cooling setup—it’s important to keep things safe. Let me know if you want more details!

The more insightful question is "what benefits could come from using an ancient CPU?"

I really think it's best to discard everything and leave am3 behind.

That is indeed a better question lol. And the answer: because I already have it. Yes, I acknowledge (and agree) that I'd be better off just upgrading to Ryzen. But, I can't afford such an upgrade right now (considering I'd need a new mobo, RAM and CPU). But I can afford to upgrade from my 8350 to a 9590 (judge me as you will). Given some time (when I get a better-paying job), I will eagerly upgrade to Ryzen. But for now, I'm going to have to stay on AM3.

You already possess the board and it doesn’t match the revision 2.0, so it won’t function properly.

I own an R2 Sabertooth. It might be better to note that at first. Should it manage the challenge?

It seems like the processor is essentially identical. The 9590 was just upgraded with some modifications. I might try reselling it for a higher price, like $1600 or more, using a refurbished version.

It should function, but you need to consider whether it’s the right move. Probably you’ll change your mind soon. It’s safer to keep your 8350 and either sell it or hold off until you can afford a better Ryzen setup.

The sabertooth is tough and could be useful, but similar opinions suggest it might not be a good investment.
