Hello, I'm checking a marketplace listing and someone is offering an i7 9750h on a Biostar B250 mining board. Do you know anything about this setup? I've heard mobile chips sometimes appearing in desktop builds, but I haven't seen this chip used that way before. Any insights would be appreciated. Thanks!
The Biostar boards using the B250 chipset only support 7th Gen desktop processors. https://www.biostar.com.tw/app/en/event/.../page6.htm Alternative options may exist. I'm unsure about its effectiveness.
I also observed this. He mentioned it has a modified BIOS but remains somewhat unsure. The only reason I’m convinced it’s possible is that the CPU design stays consistent between generations 7 and 9.
There existed two distinct forms of LGA1151: LGA1151v1 for the 6th and 7th generations, and LGA1151v2 for the 8th and 9th generations. They cannot be used together without significant modifications and BIOS adjustments.
