Check if your graphics card is functioning properly.
Currently 1.5 hours have passed with both systems operating on CS:GO. The GPU is in another machine but still connected via PSU to my PC, which removes any power supply concerns. The other machine lacks sufficient wattage for the GPU, so that was necessary. On the main PC where crashes occurred, there is no GPU and it’s running CS directly through IGPU; performance remains poor but stable. Previously, this system experienced random frame drops to zero, causing sudden lag—usually during intense moments like looking at a corner. This issue doesn’t occur without the GPU, though it still runs at 30 FPS. I’m planning to keep both systems running for now and observe further, but for now it seems fine.
We could have verified GPU-Z and observed the connection speed the card was using. I used a vertical mount for my 011D and understand if the card isn’t positioned correctly it will only operate at 4x PCIe. I don’t see any crashes, just minor stuttering in games. When rebuilding the main system with the 2070s, download GPU-Z and ensure the link speed reaches up to 16x
Is this connected to the primary PC? The PCIe port is operating at 1.1 instead of 3.0. Have you adjusted it in the BIOS? Check for a 'Link Speed' option and confirm it’s set to 3.0, not 1.1.
This might indicate you're using the maximum performance settings in NVIDIA. I assumed you were already putting it under strain when it displayed 1.1, but that doesn't seem to be the case.
I couldn't avoid a crash with the card on or off over a few hours. I restored it to my PC and experienced another crash within a couple of hours. I'm trying to put the old card back in and check if it causes issues, but I've started an RMA for the 2070s, hoping it's just the card problem, not the CPU.
The situation is getting more complex. I haven't encountered a crash during a stress test yet. I completed FurMark for over five hours without any issues, as shown in the attached time log. The only change was reinstalling the card into my main PC after testing the previous one for a few hours. It didn’t fail. I expected a crash within that time frame, but it hasn’t happened. With multi-monitor off and PCIe set to PEG, I’m curious if I should try this again using an iGPU to check for crashes. I also ran CS:GO for about an hour without any problems recently.
