Check if your GPU temperatures are within normal ranges after overclocking.
Hi guys,
I own a Sapphire R9 280 Dual X with a 940Mhz clock and 1250Mhz memory clock. I've overclocked it to 1100 and 1450, which seems to keep temperatures stable in-game—especially during demanding games like The Witcher 3, where temps stay below 78°C after an hour. There are no artifacts or issues at all.
On the other hand, my GPU is stuck at 56°C in idle with only 25% fan speed. Before overclocking it was around 30-35°C with a lower fan speed. I'm wondering if this is normal since my temperatures were safe under load before. I could increase the fan speed, but the fans are making loud noises above 50%.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
I wouldn't be too concerned. If the noise gets too loud, create a custom fan curve using tools like Msi afterburner, keeping the fans low until the GPU hits 65°C. Your temperatures should stay acceptable as long as the card never exceeds 80°C.
Sure, I'll reinstall the drivers to check if that resolves the issue.
